Bloodborne Pathogens in the Workplace

Course Description: Designed to provide students with the essential knowledge necessary to help reduce or eliminate the occupational risk of bloodborne pathogens. This training program teaches information every employee who has occupational exposure needs to know to avoid accidental exposure to potentially infectious materials and to manage an accidental exposure if one occurs. Also included are optional supplemental materials such as FAQs about the Bloodborne Standard, a list of resources available on the Web, and a model Exposure Control Plan. This stand-alone training program is intended to help meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training regulations in regard to bloodborne pathogens.

Course Length: Approximately 1-2 hours

Intended Audience: Any employee who may come into contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of performing designated job duties e.g. healthcare workers, public safety personnel, housekeeping and custodial workers, educational and correctional workers and designated first aid providers. Anyone with an occupational requirement to be trained in first aid and who may be expected to provide care until professional help arrives.
